As we age, we naturally lose teeth, and we need to get fillings to meet our daily needs; however, illness or accidents in life can also cause tooth loss, in which case we also need fillings to meet the needs of use and aesthetics. With today's advanced technology, even missing teeth can be repaired. Below are three types of prosthetic restorations.
First type: Fixed prosthetic restoration
This method is suitable for cases with few missing teeth and where the adjacent teeth are strong, as its principle is to use the adjacent teeth as "pillars" to connect the prosthesis to the adjacent teeth, giving them an integrated feel. This method of filling teeth is aesthetically pleasing, as it is not noticeable, and there is no feeling of "not one's own teeth" during normal use.
Second type: Removable partial denture restoration
This method is suitable for cases with multiple missing teeth, but not all of them. Several prostheses are made together and can be removed at any time. Its principle is to use the adjacent teeth as support, and the small rings on the prosthesis can be clipped on. Although this method has the advantage of being removable at any time, it is not very aesthetically pleasing and is not very convenient to use.
Third type: Complete denture restoration
This method is suitable for patients with complete tooth loss. This type of denture is most commonly used by elderly people in cartoons and can be removed at any time. Its principle is to make the upper and lower dentures similar in shape to real teeth, and they are all clipped onto the upper and lower gums. It is aesthetically pleasing but not practical to use, and only has a small amount of chewing ability.
Here is a brief introduction to some relevant matters regarding prosthetic restoration:
Be sure to clean your mouth thoroughly before the procedure;
After the procedure, maintaining oral hygiene is essential; if you find any signs of gum inflammation, you should stop using the dentures; and regularly return to the dentist for checkups.
